Mini Midline 4F Single Lumen

A Mini Midline is inserted in the upper arm with the tip located just below the axilla. Doctors or nurses can place the Mini midline in the shallow veins of the arm or forearm by direct puncture technology, or use ultrasound guidance to place the catheter in the deep veins of the arm.

This Mini midline is an all-in-one design with a guide wire, medical catheter needle, and catheter. The purpose is to improve the success rate of puncture and reduce the workload of clinicians.

Its usual dwell time is 14 days, but a medical catheter placement can last up to 30 days in certain circumstances. The dwell time for midline catheters is just between standard IV and PICC, for those who need 7-30 days of therapy, a midline catheter kit might be the best choice.

Who Can Insert a Midline Catheter?

Midline catheters are generally recommended for people who require IV therapy for a period of 1-4 weeks. They are a good option for people who need long-term IV therapy but do not require the use of medications that are irritating to veins or require frequent blood draws.

Antibiotic therapy

Midline catheters are commonly used to administer antibiotics to people who have infections that require long-term treatment. Antibiotics can be administered through a midline catheter for several weeks without causing irritation or damage to the veins.

Fluid therapy

Midline catheters can also be used for people who require fluid therapy for conditions such as dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, or malnutrition. They allow for the safe and efficient administration of fluids over a period of several weeks.

Blood transfusions

Midline catheters can be used to administer blood transfusions to people who require frequent transfusions over a period of several weeks.

Chemotherapy

Midline catheters may be used for certain types of chemotherapy that do not require frequent blood draws or the use of medications that are irritating to veins.

Pain management

Midline catheters can be used to administer pain medications to people who require long-term pain management.

Midline catheter kits are less invasive than PICC lines and have a lower risk of complications, making them a good choice for many people.

Overall, midline catheters are a good option for people who require long-term IV therapy for a period of 1-4 weeks and do not require the use of medications that are irritating to veins or require frequent blood draws.

However, it is important to note that the choice of the catheter for treatment will be at the discretion of the physician based on the individual medical needs and condition of the patient.
